Text from Pages 1 - 200 of the 1958 volume:

Central State Gollecje Steaenl Point, Wiicotvlin iris Waite Siflve te Dr. Sylvester came to CSC in 1947 as a conservation and biology instructor. Alpha Kappa Lambda, of which he was advisor, is establishing a conservation library collection in his name. For his contributions to conservation and education. Dr. Sylvester has been named, posthumously, for the 1957 Award of Merit by the American Association for Conservation Education. Jtaiv'ience baoU Mr. Davis had been a custodian at CSC since 1936, recently serving as head custodian. Although it was his duty to see that the school was kept in good repair, he always gladly consented to do tire little jobs we asked of him. A very sociable person, Mr. Davis always enjoyed die personal contacts with faculty and students. li iU Hemembeti... ... josi {feate of devoted de uuce . . . jjQSi active int ieA.t and tUoMXfdttfful caniidelatien ... jpsi tailing ctudnibutiani ta Central State WiliO+l £. jbelfell Mr. Dclzell represented CSC on the State Hoard of Regents from 1939 until his death in 1957. Not working for monetary reward, but for the school, it was always his goal to provide the best. Many of the improvements in facilities were obtained through his efforts. Delzell Hall, die men's dormitory, and the Delzell Scholarship Fund are monuments to his constant striving to make CSC a better college. ♦ Boiiiice. Wti am If I were to distill into this paragraph a valuable lesson which I have learned out of my experience, it is the one best stated in the Bible, “Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” It has taught me to do all I can today, not worrying about what I couldn’t finish yesterday or about what heavy tasks may face me tomorrow. I have observed that a very ordinary person can accomplish an unbelievably difficult task if he is willing to attack the difficulties one at a time, keeping at them day by day, until the job is done. It is the way to succeed as a student and as a teacher. The quality of this Iris is dependent to quite an extent upon whether the staff has been able to follow this principle. I hope it has and that this one of the greatest yearbooks of our college, for it should be one of the most interesting books in your library during the next forty, maybe sixty years. Wm. C. His calm, soft-spoken manner and judicious personality arc well known. But we will always remember him for his broad knowledge and ability to punctuate a point with an appropriate story. Jleiand Ruvuuufltl Our English and speech departments have had die pleasure of working with Mr. Burroughs since 1920. This dignified man, with the fine, deep voice, was head of the English department and advisor to Sigma Tau Delta and Alpha Psi Omega. Being very active in forensics, he was well known to many students attending forensic contests at CSC. 32 l Uell-knoiun ond Weil-liked people... Alatuf. euJj-eAx eA Since 1935, Miss Neuberger has been receiving college students and all their aches and pains with patience and friendliness. If there wasn't a medicine for some particular ailment, there was always some friendly advice to help the situation from this gentle mannered lady.
