We played St. Olaf the tome week end tuffered a second setback, 34-27, after having defeated the Olet in tho game before Christmas. Dm Folcont then returned home to win two moro gemot, the Navy Fter . a service team composed of former colege stars. 49-32. end Mace letter. 44-24. Dtit new string was once again broken when River Folk played Concordia and the Navy Ren away from home. Wog the first. 57-49. and the second. 51-44. Upon returning home the Folcont defeated the professional Negro team, the New York Col- legians. before the largest home crowd of the year by the wide margin of 54-43. They won a asily on their neat two games over lethal Junior College. 61-45, and the Navy Selection Board. 66-33. The highlight of the tea ion wot the Eau Claire game. The Falcons overcame a 17-point deficit in a hotly played and evenly contested game to win, 50 43. The last home game of the season was with Bethel Junior College. The Falcons romped to an easy 62-27 win. This gave the Falcons a dean slota in their eight home gomes. In the lost game of the season Rlvor Falls dafaatad Eau Clair . 43-30. in a nip and tuck battle played at Eau Claire. Six-foot-six Note Oolong paced the FeUsmen all season for a fifteen-game average of 20.7 points per gam for a total of 310 points. Wynveen placed second with a 142-point total, followod by Chart Most with a 120-point total. Every man on the team was essential, ho-cver. because of the small number, and each did his part to carry the season to a successful completion. Col Fedor and Jerry Anderson were unable to finish the season, ot they were celed into service.

Haodrick—■ The Tradition of an active athletic deportment at River Falls -a. uphold throughout she I94J-44 season because of tha good participation in sports by the few students onrollod and tha efforts of Coach Man ion to keep the ball rolling. With el the other schools in the conference and many other tchooh throughout the country dropping sports. River Falls still carried on despite the difficulty of scheduling games. Footbel and basketbal became a part of our physical fitness program and resulted in a very successful season. One major and one minor lettermen returned, end an additional seventeen men made up the footbel squad. This was something of a record because this number represented over half tha fellows in school. However, there were still not enough follows for scrimmage or replacements, thus adding to tha problems of tha Falcons Coach. Tha Falcons traveled to Northfiold for their first encounter and won the much needed confidence by defeating the Oies by a 20-12 count. River Falls received the opening kickoff, and in a sustained 0?ootfcUt m3 drive scored the first touchdown of the season. Wickmen. Foiler. and Johnson each counted once, end Wickmen converted twice. The next two gomes were ployed with a light but determined Red Wing Training School eleven. The Falcons scored easily to win. 40-0 end 26-0. bringing the record to three wins and no defeats. The last and most highly prized game of the season was tha homecoming game with the fast, aggressive Oies. Tha Falcons gave tha home crowd a thrill in tha opening minutes when tha das Sne was split wide open and fullback Feilor sprinted 79 yards for a touchdown. Feilcr crossed tha goal two more times, and tha Falcons won. 19-0. The entire teem worked as a unit to hold St. Olaf to a minimum of yards, at tha same time developing a tremendous offensive punch. The regular starters were: C. Fetter and Shock, ends: McCerdle and Goodspccd. tackle; Beyl end Larson, guards; Wirz center; Johnson. quarterback; Wickman, left halfback; Wise, right halfback; and A. Foilor. fullback. However, each member of tha squad played in every game.
