The one room alloted to us was a far cry from our earlier residences, some- how, through the jumble of ashtrays, books, and last vveek's laundry, it became home. We lounged in the r 1 T.V. room, met dates in the lobby, and cooked in the kitchen. l 1

aI'ail1S to for facts, l with us observed physical bs, all to 5 learned NV We discovered again the tremendous part the library plays in our collegiate world, and there we perhaps grasped more knowledge than anywhere else on campus. We found it useful as a place of study and as a retreat from the whirring pace of campus life. We appreciated its scope and services, experienced the new checking process, and waited at the end of long lines for needed books. It was there that we caught up on the ever-present required reading lists and there that we entrenched ourselves to battle the discouraging mountain of data we didn't know.

Still others were off campus, living in private homes or the Cooperative House, Where We found that though new free- doms had been granted, new responsibilities were also added. Wherever We lived, We covered the bare Walls with pictures from home, littered the radiators with coke bottles, and found room somewhere for all the mementos a year at La Crosse provides. ,ii-V,
