T llhil HE l M HL WD HE HR QS To the administrators of La Crosse - the mayor and his assistant staff, the courts' ofhcials, the business men-falls the complex problem of governing the city, concommitf antly, to the faculty of La Crosse State Teachers' College falls the duty of managing that institution. Unobtrusively, while La Crosse's citizens eat and sleep and work and play, those responsible for such public services as those rendered by the fire and police def partinents, the park commission, the public libraries, and so on, pull the strings which operate and organize these activities. As quietly, President lvlitchell and his faculty meet the daily perplexities and obligations of governing the citizens of the college - the student body.

REXFORD S. MITCHELL An annual such as ours grows in value, acquires new meaning, and even changes character as the years go by. Now you find it a very interesting summary of the year-an album of those .with whom you have been closely associated, a record of events now vivid in your mind. In ten years every one of its pages will be unaltered, but it will not be the same book. It will be, however, still a source of enjoyment. It will bring back old friends and touch od' memories of the days you spent at La Crosse. Through its pages you will recall the events of these years but, believe it or not, you will see them in a diiferent lightg perspective does that. It is my hope that, as you turn these pages in the years to come, you will conclude that these years at La Crosse were experience worthwhile, and that this annual will serve to deepen your loyalty to the Alma Mater.
