DRAMATICS Nine members of College Players ami Karl S. Kj«-r, director, were installed in the forty-second chapter of National Collegiate Players in a ceremony preceding a dinner at the YMCA Sunday, March 9. Hic.iiuc.irr of the season for Euu Claire State College Players was the installation of nine members and their director, Earl S. Kjer, into the honorary dramatic fraternity. National Collegiate Players, also known by its Greek name, Pi Epsilon Delta. Eau Claire State is the only teacher training institution in the nation to have a chapter. With College Player meinlx rs and others interested in dramatics assisting in the season ticket sale this fall, an audience of over BOO regulars was obtained and it was decided to present each major play three nights. Major productions of the year were “1 Remember Mama, taken from the book, Mama s Bank Account by Kathryn Forbes, “January Thaw, adapted by William Boos from the novel of the same name, and “Lady Windermere’s Fan by Oscar Wilde, a nineteenth century English play which was revived on Broadway this season. College Players presented “January Thaw” at Central State Teachers college at Stevens Point in March under an exchange arrangement between the two colleges. During May the Central college players gave a Twenty-two performance of Noel Cowards Ilav Fever at Eau Claire State. “Bobino, the two-act children’s plav, which was presented last year for pupils of the Campus School, was revived this year and given for children of McDonnell School in Chippewa Falls and for children of Cadott in a one day road trip. Another trip taken by College Players, and others who helped sell season tickets, was the jaunt to Minneapolis to see a professional show. “State of the Union by Lindsey and Crouse. College Players did not neglect the social side. Dinners were given at the Hotel Eau Claire in the fall and spring for College Player memlxars and a dinner for the cast of “Bobino’ was held at the Elk’s Club. Members of the cast for January Thaw left only the hone of the liain used in the play after a dinner prepared by the college cafeteria staff. College Players is interested in presenting a variety of giHxl shows that will not only lx enjoyable to audiences, but also a challenge to speech students. Under the leadership of Mr. Kjer the players hope for another successful season next year.
