PHDLDGUE and J. HIS is the picture story of your state and its university. The students from all over the state come together in a common group where they study, play and live together and share common interests. In attaining the degrees these students meet the faculty and become acquainted with the buildings and the administration of the university. In activities they enjoy the many social doings. They live together in dorms and Greek houses. And finally, they leave the halls of ivy with diplomas in hand as graduating seniors.

D £ D I C A T I D IV Two men whose contributions to Wisconsin can never be fully measured died on July 22, 1952. To the memory of Frank J. Sen- senbrenner, 87, Neenah, president of the Boord of Regents, and Law Prof. William H. Page, 83, the staff of the 1953 Badger dedicates this book. Frank J. Sensenbrenner, who was appointed to the board in 1939 and elected its president in 1945, was one of the state ' s foremost industrial, cultural, religious, and political leaders. He never at- tended college, but served on the governing board of five state colleges and universities after rising from a postal clerk ' s position to be president of one of the world ' s largest paper manufacturing companies. He was one of the university ' s most loyal boosters and contributed freely of his talent and fortune for its betterment. Prof. Page, known to generations of students as Herbie, was on authority on wills and contracts, but will also be remembered for his amazing wit, jibes at unprepared students, and unpredictable lectures. He was the oldest member of the faculty and devoted his entire life to teaching. William H. Page
