Typical of the university idea of service is the work of its visual aid department. Here motion pictures ilemonstrating new developments, edu- cational subjects and historical topics are filmed and sent throughout the state. By filming relevant material to supplement classroom instructions, the university adds to the enjoyment and easier learning. The University of Wisconsin has always been noted for its scientifie research. Its research labora- tories deal most specifically with those fields prevalent in Wisconsin, and its agricultural and dairy farming developments are widely known throughout the nation. The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation is one of the pioneer scien- tific research programs of its kind. Many times the boundaries of the University extend far beyond the boundaries of the state. Angie Brooks, who came to Wisconsin from Liberia to study law, is now the only woman lawyer in her African homeland. She is representative of the many foreign students who spread Wisconsin ' s educational products throughout the world.

Industrial awards are given by the Extension Division. This is the story of Wisconsin and its university. Wide and varied services are performed by the uni- versity to better conditions in our state and to lead the march of progress. The extension division of the school gives residents of the state the opportunity to pursue educational inter- ests in a wide selection of courses away from the cam- pus. The university thus projects its educational services into every community in the state. Institutes and seminars are offered in various pro- fessional, commercial, industrial, political, and social fields. Wisconsin men and women attend these short- term classes at the University to learn the most re- cent developments in their field and exchange informa- tion with others in the same fines of endeavor. Broad indeed are the interests that the state university has in the progress of the Badger State and of the services it gives to the residents of Wisconsin. — The boundaries of the university are truly the boundaries of the state — ■ Correspondence classes exams come in to Extension Division. LeRoy Luberg, assistant to President Fred, represents the university at numerous functions.

The photographic laboratory acts in co-opera- tion with the university news bureau. It supphes photographv services to departments and com- mittees of the university and to campus groups. Its photographers record campus scenes, events, and students, faculty and administration. A com- plete record in photography is made by the labora- tory and adds to the better understanding of the university by the residents of Wisconsin. Robert Taylor directs the activities of the uni- versity news bureau which serves the important function of informing residents of the state of ser- vices offered by their university. The bureau prepares news releases for radio and newspapers, sends communications throughout the state concerning the activities of the univer- sity, and releases news to hometown newspapers concerning activities of Badger students. It serves as the University ' s pubhc relations agent and ties the state ' s people and their university together.
