STUDENT SERVICES Meeting the diverse needs of sriideiits on the Wisconsin campus are the eight student services which provide tile administrative means for guiding student life. Frt)m clearing prospective students for admission to the University, direct- ing and aiding them in their registration, to providing the necessary guidance for their activities on the campus is the range of these services. Maintaining the statistics and records of student life, operating the University Residence Halls, and directing the Union; combined with the more personal services of the Student Financial Advisor, Student Counseling Center, and Student Health Service complete the wide scope of services that the University offers to its students. Wisconsin Foundation The University of Wisconsin FounJatii i is a receiving agency for private gifts to the University. These gifts are used for Univer- sity development in areas which are not ade- quately provided for by the ordinary sources of operating income, that is, tax allocations or income from earnings. In 1946 the Foundation ' s Centennial Fund was established with a goal of $5,000,000 for some of the University ' s special needs. A re- cent reactivation of the campaign, beginning with a year-end solicitation of Wisconsin in- dustrv, has been highly successful. With the Fund goal nearly at the halfwav mark, the campaign is now being focused on Wisconsin citizens. University alumni, the University ' â– Family including faculty, students and administration. A Wisconsin Center Building, where in- dustry, business, agriculture and the profes- sions will hold short courses, seminars and institutes; and additional fellowships, scho- larships, and special equipment will result from the Centennial Fund. Therefore, when corporations, individuals, charitable foundations, or trust funds wish to make gifts to the University of Wisconsin, the Foundation is a proper agency to receive the gifts. 29
