For more than 50 years it has conducted short courses and special lectures — first lor farmers, now also tor business men, workers, pro- fessional men and women, manufacturers, housewives... These meetings arc now held wherever space can be found, placing extra burdens on the overcrowded Uni- versity plum and causing inconvenience to faculty and isitors alike. The University of Wisconsin Foundation intends to correct this condition by presentation to the University .1 special purpose building where adequate adult educa- tional facilities will lie made available. The building will be equipped with radio and television broadcast facilities so thai special lectures and demonstrations may be carried to schools and homes throughout the sine. Those who are planning this building have already fallen into the habit oi calling it The Wisconsin Idea Building. Such an educational iorum will give reality to the University ' s vision — that the boundaries of the campus should be co-extensive with the boundaries ol the state. CENTENNIAL CAMPAIGN OBJECTIVES The current Centennial Campaign ol the Foundation to raise a minimum ol Sxooii.uoo among the alumni and in ' ihI-. c.i th University has lour immediate ' objectives; briefly stated they are: 1. An Adult Education Building 2. Scholarships and Fellowships for Worthy. Needy Students 3. Special Professorships 4. Special Instruments and Equipment lor Research THE FINAL OBJECTIVE is aimed to broaden cul- tural life IN THE UNIVERSITY and to increase the area of public service OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY. His finger on the pulse of the campus, Ray Hilsen- horT, in the position of student financial advisor, fills the role of friendly counselor and advisor to all the many students who have adding machine trouble. Over a million dollars is routed annually through his office. Ray is a graduate of the class of 1924. Mr. Robert Foss, editor of The Badger Quarterly, is also director of the University Information Service which releases university news to state radios and newspapers. A familiar figure to campus veterans is Mr. John Rammer, supervisor of the Business Office for Vet- erans, who works out the regulations of the G.I. Bill.
