Edward Hall without a strong sense of incredulity. As the youngest university president in North America in 1946, he could look back even then at a list of accomplishments that would satisfy most professional men. Twenty years later, that list seems nothing less than a composite career of at least three brilliant scholars. The old truism about still waters is barely adequate to describe the man whom critics have called un- prepossessingn. In charge of Aviation Medicine for the Fi.C.A.F. during World War ll, Dr. Hall became the only non-flying recipient of the Air Force Cross, and was further honoured with the American Legion of Merit. The measure of the man's genius is perhaps best illustrated by an accomplishment that must strike home to students. With a Master's Degree in Biochemistry, the young associate and friend of Sir Frederick Bant- ing tried more than twenty examinations in one year, passed them all, and was admitted to the final year of Medicine at Toronto - an achievement unequalled by any other man of our time.
