igrraihvnta llllvaatigv wwe To lack wirciom if no dirgmceg to lack the desire for wirdohz ir cl pity. But to desire wisdom and not know bow to find it if a tragedy. As you leave Western, with all of the opportunities which were yours, I hope you have desired and found wisdom. That wisdom was to be found in the libraries, in the classrooms, in the lecture and seminar roomsg it was to be found too, through your teachers, your classmates, the visiting lecturers, but above all it was to be found within yourselves. Higher education is a thoroughly social process behind which are ideals and standards. Responsibilities are in- herent. Discharging these responsibilities to yourself and to the society of which you are a part requires courage and determination. I hope you have developed this true sense of responsibility and at the same time a real sense of moral and spiritual obligation Without which no country can survive. Society expects that those who have had the privilege of graduating from Western will become leaders. Congratu- lations and best wishes for the future. G. Edward Hall, Ph.D., President and Vice-Chancellor

Your education is only limited by your own diligence and capacity. Make the most of the oppor- tunities that are yours for the next few years, as they can hardly be repeated. Remember that higher education is not your right but a privilege. To the Graduating Class I would like to say, do not make The Touch of Midas your goal. Possessions are of a passing interest and soon lose their glitter. Your attainments will give you lasting satisfaction. .On passing from these halls of learning, you will find that which you have learned of greatest value is how to learn. Cultivate determination as it is the driving power which produces results from knowledge. Discipline yourself to obey the laws pf humanity and the unwritten laws of the society in which you live, and you will find a satisfying and suc- cess ul li e. V. P. Cronyn, Chancellor
