ll O be or not to be. That is the eternal question. The whole process of education has for its ulti- mate goal the desire to assist the individual to achieve self-realization. But here is the rubf which self? That self which, in moments of insight, when the Spirit of God is stirring the soul, we wist- fully long to become. To be satisfied with any self short of that ideal is to court futility and to live a maladjusted life. ln history and literature you have met some men and women who point the way and the means, for they forgot themselves into immortal- ity. Though dead, they still speak to the ages, and their works do follow them. No person will ever truly become and be that for which he was created and sent into the world who does not accept as his yoke-fellow Him W'ho is the ldeal Man, ,the only truly normal Man. Become more and more aware of Himp accept His gracious invitation: Learn of Me! His secret of how to be will reward you with genuine self-realization. URING the past year there has developed a new interest 'W ' throughout the University, the love of good music. This new interest has resulted in the University Con- cert Series being voted for by the student body, and subscribed for by the students and the faculty members. The opportunity has also been given to listen to some of the finest recordings that it is possible to obtain, through the Carnegie gift to the University. This has reflected in no uncertain degree on the general musical interest. The Glee Club has done excellent work, and along with the University Crchestra, presented Bach's Peasant Cantata and the D Major Suite for Strings at the annual concert, the net proceeds of which were donated to the Red Cross Fund in aid of the flood refugees. The Huron Male Choir also contributed to the above concert and has broadcast during the past season on the Conservatory programmes. The University String Quartet has taken a prominent place in musical circles and is rapidly making a name for itself. To those of our members who are leaving the University we wish you C.-od's speed, and may you pass on to the younger generation the gift of music and the happiness of song. FREDERICK L. faithful. T is frequently said today that the professions are overcrowded. This is a half-truth. The crowding is of idlers and incapables: but there is, and will be, plenty of room in every profession for competent men. History bears witness to the fact that those who have risen above mediocrity owe their success less to natural talent than to high ideals, constant application and hard work. They were satisfied only when they had done their best. May I suggest to you, Graduates of l937, that in every respect, both for this world and the next, it is worthwhile now to labour to rank high in the calling that God has marked out for you. ln all thy works be excellent. A recent graduate, when l asked him to tell me the secret of the love that remains, said it was The wonderful Huron spirit, and, asked to define it, he said Each for all and all for each. That is the true spirit of brotherhood, the spirit of victory, the spirit of Faith. For it is the spirit of the Master who gave Himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time.
