TRANCE as it may seem to individual members thereof, college classes have the habit ot graduating. lt would spoil the whole system ot things academic it they didn't. The old World would never be the same again it the universities suddenly ceased to emit people with diplomas. That wouldn't be so serious a matter it they succeeded in sending out an annual crop ot educated men and Women With trained minds. Convocation speak- ers insist that there is still a place tor such products in a society of democratic freedom. How many educated men and Women with trained minds has the University College class ot l937 in its ranks? Four years is rather a short time in which to reach a precise answer to such an abstruse question but we are sanguine that the class has its share and we hope they will get the recognition that the preacher says falls to the lot ot those who walk uprightly. ln tact, to all the members oi the class, regardless of special qualities, our good wishes tor the tuture extend in generous measure. When they reach the end ot the trail may nobody teel that he has ever had occasion to lament 'ithere ain't no justice. K. P. Pt. NEVILLE, Dean of University College. page

F should seem almost unnecessary for me to give you advice as you finish your undergraduate course. However, as most of you will devote your lives to caring for the sick, let me stress particularly your sense of responsibility. You are members of a great profession. You are graduates of a recog- nized school of medicine. To you is entrusted the safety, welfare, and often the happiness of human beings. Sickness levels all human values. Pros- trate and weak, We turn instinctively to those who by nature and training are able to allay appre- hension and guide our footsteps along recovery's pathwayp to those Whose innate kindness of heart harbours no vestige of personal selfishness. With these thoughts in mind we wish you God- speed. F. l. I-l. CAMPBELL, Dean, Faculty of Medicine. RISTOTLE said: Education is an ornament in prosperity, but a refuge in adversity. ln the years of prosperity that we Wish for you, may you find in your possession such ornamental qualities as Aristotle meant, and such a well-spring of mental treasures that adversity may not be bitter. May you thus prove your- selves worthy alumni of your Alma Mater who is ever-mindful of you, and Whose greatest strength lies in the loyalty and success of her graduates. DOROTHY TURVILLE, Adviser to Women. Page 23
