LT James McDougal graduated in 1970 from Michigan State University. He was commissioned through the Naval Aviation Officer Candidate program and was assigned to the Naval Flight Training Command as a student. After being awarded his Flight Officer Wings, he was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing NINETEEN staff onboard the USS ORISKANY CCVA 349. Prior to reporting to the University of Washington, he was assigned as a Bombardier!Navigator with Attack Squadron ONE FOUR FIVE KVA 1453 onboard the USS RANGER QCV 615. As the Sophomore Class Instructor, LT McDougla1 teaches the NROTC sophomores the fundamentals of Seapower and Naval Weapon Systems. Tritz, teller of many a salty sea story, hails J. lx tp In from a hot dusty southwestern town some miles west of Phoenix, Arizona. He was taken with blue water the first time he saw it he vowed to carry on a family traditon Cthat began in June of 19691 and become a Naval Officer via the Naval Academy. He accomplished his immediate goal in June of 1973 and soon thereafter reported aboard the USS HENRY B. WILSON CDDG 79. He received his Surface Warfare qualification in February 1976 after returning from a Western Pacific cruise during which the Hammerin' Hank participated in the evacuation of Viet- nam and Cambodia and the rescue of the SS MAYAGUEZ. LT ijgq Tritz reported to the UW in August of '76. He and his wife Susan have one young son Gerry.

His first assignment was First Lieutenant and Navigator onboard the USS JOHN R. CRAIG CDD 8855. In January 1966 LCDR Telfer reported to the USS PRINCETON CLPH 53 for two years of duty as Communications Traffic Control Offi- cer. His next assignment was Operations Officer of the USS WEISS LAPD 1359, and he subsequently served in that command as Executive Officer until mid-1969. Following this tour, LCDR Telfer entered Basic Underwater DemolitionlSEAL training and graduated in April 1970. Reporting to SEAL Team ONE, he deployed to the Republic of Vietnam as a Platoon Commander. In July 1971, he was assigned as Operations and Plans Officer, Naval Special Warfare Group ONE. He received orders to Commander Naval lnshore Warfare!Amphibious Group Eastern Pacific in July 1973 ad Assistant Chief of Staff for Logis- ucs. LCDR Telfer served as Commanding Officer of SEAL Team ONE from 29 March 1974 to 3 April 1976. He assumed his duties as Senior Instructor at the University of Washington NROTC Unit in September of 1976. M,-f' wwgxb 7 I 0 ,ry , v ,f , w Major James E. McClenahan, Marine Officer Instructor, entered the United States Marine Corps through the OCS Program and was commis- sioned a second lieutenant in May 1965. He attended the Basic School at Quantico and Field Artillery Officers Basic School at Fort Sill before serving with the 3rd and 5rd Marine Divisions in Vietnam. Major McClenahan then served with the 5th Marine Division at Camp Pen- dleton, California, attended the Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course at Fort Sill, served with the 3rd Marine Division on Okinawa, at the Marine Barracks, Kodiak, Alaska, and at the 6th Marine Corps District Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
