Graduated from Harvard with an A.B. degree in 1903, Elijah Swift one year later received his MA. and in 1907 was awarded his Ph.D. from Gottingen. After seven years of teaching at Prince- ton, Dean Swift came to the Uni- versity of Vermont as a professor of mathematics. He became Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in 1931 and is now in his thirty-second year here. Dean Swift is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dean McKee P XGE 1' WELVE Dean Swift DEANS CF THE Edd Ruthven NIcKee is Act- ing Dean of the College of En- gineering and professor of elec- trical engineering. In 1921 he graduated from Iowa State Col- lege with a BS. He received his M.S. in 1925 and his in 1926 from the same institution. For 13 years he was on the elec- trical engineering staff at Iowa State. Professor lV1cKee is a member of Adelante, Sigma Delta Chi journalistic society, and National Collegiate Players.

John Schoff Millis received his B.S., M.S. and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Before coming to the University of Vermont he served as an instructor and professor in physics, and Dean of College and Administration at Lawrence College, Ohio. His publications include a Labora- tory Outline in Physics and Articles on Atomic and Nlolecular Spectra, and he is a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Sigma, American Physical Society, Rotary Club and the Episcopal Church. Dean Carrigan FOUR COLLEGES A newcomer as a dean of the University is Dr. YVilliam Eustis Brown. Dr. Brown received his bachelor's degree from Lafayette College and did graduate work at Columbia. He was awarded his degree in public health from both Harvard and IW. I. T. and re- ceived his M.D. from Harvard lVIed. After his discharge from Nfedical Corps, Dr. Brown came to Vermont as Dean of the Col- lege of Mediciiie and is also a professor of health and preven- tive medicine. Joseph Edward Carrigan, Dean of the Agricultural College and Director of the Vermont Ex- perimental Station, is himself a graduate of the University of Vermont, class of 1914. In 1931 he received his NLS. and was appointed Director of the Uni- versity Extension Service.
