Kara Wa!! The Middlebury game furnished the lift to the spirits given by trouncing the old rival 57 to 28 to finish an eight-game winning streak, and clinch the State Championship, as Capt. Paul Corley wound up his basketball career with a scoring spree, taking eighteen points to lead his team to victory. Evening spotlights playing over the crowds in the packed auditorium, the holiday spirit much in evidence. Slowly a hush falls over the crowd as Master of Ceremonies, Don Gearing takes over and introduces King Dave and Queen Jeanne whose entrance and enthronement marks the opening of the evening's activities. The lights black out, the hall becomes tense and silent with anticipa- tion, then the rush, the action, the color of the fraternity skits swing through their paces in competition for the coveted Briggs Trophy. The next point in the action filled program is the award of the International Ski Union Trophy to Dartmouth, winner of the week-end ski carnival. As the lights again black out the tenseness becomes well nigh unbearable, a clever introduction by Master of Ceremonies Gearing, and then- Cotton Babes -the Kake Walkers, couple after couple in brilliant costumes and dazzling routines- Cotton Babes -providing a thrill never to be for- AT THE SKI HUT LOIS HARRINGTON, DECORATOR

Kan W M Directors John Royer, Bob Kenney, and Bill Pye, have been diligently working at getting the details of the big event organized and the various points of the program in order. Also busy has been the Outing Club under the efficient leader- ship of Dot Smith, which besides sending out its ski teams to the leading meets of the New England area, has also taken on the job of playing host to the Inter- national Ski Union's annual meet on the Kake Walk week-end. First real sign of Kake Walk to appear on the campus in general is the com- mencement of the spirited campaign for King and Queen which rages for two weeks, to the accompaniment of posters, promises, and propaganda of all sorts and reaches its climax on the Thursday before Kake W'aIk with the election. Friday night the week-end really begins to open up with the Masquerade Ball. A new high in color and hilarity is reached as the dance, to the strains of Johnny Messner and his Orchestra, and under the able chairmanship of Eddie Guilbert reaches its peak with the crowning of the most charming and handsome Queen and King yet, Jeanne Woolley and Dave Sawyer, to reign over the season's biggest event. .
