0-min Lights fade, and across the campus the solitary, reminiscent alumni Walk. The smell of burning leaves floats through the haze of dusk. In the distance the thump of a punted football, the calls and laughter of far-off celebrants. Strains of music wafted from the fraternity tea dances, and the low murmur of strolling couples, all combine to make more distinct the quiet of the dying day. THE CORNERSTONE OF THE WATERMAN BUILDING IS LAID 01442 CRISP, clear, October days, with sparkling skies, and cool breezes, and football the center of atten- tion. The squad returns from its first trip and the campus Welcomes it and the alumni Who return for the Annual Homecoming Day. The laying of the cornerstone of the NVaterman Building starts the afternoon events, and a new era seems to open out for Vermont with the addition of this magnificent memorial to the strength and generosity of Senator Waterman. Eyes brighten as the Webster brothers join in leading the cross-country team to victory over the Dartmouth squad and a ten to seven loss to the powerful Colby football squad fails to dim the Vermont spirit.
