Hunt, ,37 The Publication Board was established in 1936 as an advisory board to the campus publications, the ARXEL and the Cynic. ,Its duties are to oversee the elec- tion of the editor-in-chief and the business manager for the ARIELQ in regard to the Cynic, it merely advises the editor with his problems, since the Cynic staff is chosen on a credit system. The board investigates all ARIEL contracts and aids the editor in his choice of printer, engraver, and photographer. The establishment of this board is the direct result of the present practice of sending the editors and business managers of the Cynic and the Alum. to the Associated Collegiate Press Conference each year. Last year, when H. H. Hunt, '37, editor of the 1937 ARIEL, attended the conference in Chicago, he learned that it is the practice in many of the colleges of the country to have such a board. Feeling that such an organization would be beneficial to the staffs of the two publications and the student body as a whole, he worked out a tentative plan and took it to Dean Swift, who, with Professor Dean, revised Mr. Hunt's plan and aided in the formation of a board which the University Council approved.
