ORIENTATION Flrosh Orientation Wow! This year’s crop of Flrosh has been rambunctiously incredible, exhibiting an amazing abundance of SKULE Spirit. On their very first day the lucky Flrosh were treated to some amusing speeches about the hardships of Engineering (do you remember who said, ‘...between yourself and the persons sitting on each side of you only one will graduate...’?). The English Facility Test was almost as amusing as that comment. After a short break to quell the munchies a magnificent assembly of SKULE Force in the form of Lady Godiva, The Cannon, the WFTPWRS Lady Godiva Memorial Band, and 700 obnoxious, rowdy, hard- hatted Flrosh descended upon the SAC building to paint the dome. Then the F!rosh March moved off to VIC, leaving nothing unmolested in its wake (including traffic, picnic tables, andd the squirrels in Oueen’s Park). At VIC two attacks were made on those registering and the Flrosh quickly picked up the art of retaining hard hats in hostile territory. Unfortttunately, some were not as quick as they might of been. After a trium- mphant march back acccross Oueen’s Park and a short visit with Uncle Bill, the marchers, with the addition of a few nurses were off to DJ’s for a free pub. Some indeterminate time later, after n! beers had been consumed, the group flowed out, tripping, stumbling and staggering on its way to see Trish Grab (nurse and Shinerama director) throw in the first ball at the Blue Jay’s game. We have it on authority that she has a powerful right arm (and the rest isn’t bad either!). On the way to the game the first installment of Flrosh at- tempted unsuccessfully to derail a TTC streetcar from within, amidst raucous cries of ‘Ohhhhhhhh-Shit!’. Whew! 1 1 What a day. The next part of the Orientation Program was a mutual introduction of the Nursing and Engineering Flrosh. This was accomplished by bathing Joe Lstiburek in the nursing demo room and by washing down some nurses. Then the nurse’s pyjama party was raided by some zealous Flrosh toting sleeping bags. Needless to say, the acquai ntance was completed successful ly. After the first week of classes there was a popular misconception among the up- perclassmen that the Flrosh had had it too easy and that Hart House Farm would be the place of reckoning. The day was fun, but something went wrong with the upperclassmen’s plans, as Joe can readily attest to. After many hours of gruelling toil, with little reward, the Flrosh mounted a revolt and sent many upperclassmen 6

The shiners line up for the Presentation of the Cans ceremony. The Flrosh dance, on the other hand, was a very popular event(due mainly to a guest ap- pearance by the LGMB). The Dance was attended by more people that allowed by law and an effort had to be made to keep the ratio of drunk to sober at a reasonable level. Fortunately, this technique proved to be effective and the dance was an astounding success. Now that the Flrosh are no longer Flrosh (...sniff, sniff...) I only hope they pass so that their precious SKULE Spirit will live on. Chris Webber, V.P. Activities. in for a dip. Then one of the Flrosh teams (the Pussies!) beat the upperclassmen at toilet bowl. Meanwhile, the LGMB confiscated (absconded with) and consumed most of the Flrosh beer during a combination practice session and all day concert. ?! WH i 4 7
