The school of Education for the past several years has sponsored or played host to more than 6,000 Valley teachers and their annual fall convention fDistrict l-TSTAJ. It also has sponsored the District UIL contests for public school youngsters for the ast four years. Some interesting subjects taught in secondary education are par- ametric statistics, field based freshmen courses Cfor future teachersj, three different student teacher experiences and profes- sional ethics.

Minors are in the fields of health and physical education and health education. A major in health and physical education for the secondary level or a health and physical education all-level teaching plan is available. In order to be graduated, four semester hours of credit in physi- cal education are required for all students. The department sponsors the Health and Physical Education Majors and Minors Club.
