Academics Behavioral Sciences The department of Behavioral Sciences includes geography, philosophy, psychology, and sociology. A bachelor of arts degree is available in psychology and sociology, while minors are offered in philosophy, psychol- ogy and sociology. A major in psychology is availa- ble in addition to an elementary teaching plan. Also, a major in sociology is offered in addition to an elementary teaching plan. This department sponsors the Psychology Club which is made up of psychology majors and minors. K. ,K

It trains musicians who major or minor in one of the programs offered by the aca- demic arm of the Music department. Students may follow either a performance curriculum, which pre- pares them for further study and a possible concert career, or they may major in the area of music edu- cation, which prepares them for teaching. A second function is to furnish auxiliary courses for majors in elementary education. Elective courses are also offered to students. The Music department sponsors organizations such as Mu Phi Epsilon honor sorority for women, the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Honor fraternity for men, and the student chapter of the Music Educators National Conference.

A bachelor of arts degree in com- munity services is available. The department also allows stu- dents to minor in government or acquire a teaching certificate in the elementary or secondary lev- e s. In law enforcement there is spe- cial attention given to bilingual ability and bicultural under- standing. Pre-Law Club is sponsored by the Political Science department and Social Work Student Asso- ciation is sponsored by the com- munity services program.
