A Winning Fall Following a disastrous '74 Spring, which saw four veteran PAU netters leave in mid-semes- ter to join the professional cir- cuit-thus leaving only a team of six-the Broncs became 10 strong by Fall '74. As a result of a heavy recruiting program, Coach Dennis Conner added nine new players to his Fall '74 squad. Even though the expanded squad was young feight freshmenj, overall team strength was evidenced by their winning more than 20 trophies in Fall competition. The Bronc netters completely dominated the St. Edward's Collegiate Invi- tational by winning the singles, doubles and team champion- ship, plus the Broncs had dou- bles wins in the Laredo Interna- tional Invitational and the McAllen Holiday Festival Tour- naments. Singles runner-up awards were won in the Corpus Christi Thanksgiving tourna- ment and the McAllen Holiday Festival. Doubles runner-up awards were won in the Rebel Days tournament of Harlingen and the McAllen Holiday Festi- val. Another Bronc tennis honor was won by team captain Ricardo Eynaudi who was selected to represent his home country of Chile in the Interna- tional Sunshine Cup matches in Miami during the Christmas break. Having completed the most suc- cessful Fall season in Bronc ten- nis history, the PAU interna- tional squad was looking for- ward to its unusually tough Spring '75 schedule which pitted players against such national tennis posers as Alabama, Ten- nessee, Rice, Oklahoma and oth- ers in the Bronc's 500-seat Orville I. Cox Tennis Stadium.
