Sports Good 'minton The state badminton tourna- ment yielded third place to Norma Barron, and her sister Sylvia captured fourth, in wom- en's doubles. The sisters from Brownsville finished third in women's doubles. Janie Cava- zos, Belen Santos and Elva San- tos also competed in the state tournament for Pan Am. The Barrons dominated the South Zone Badminton Tournament when Norma defeated Sylvia for the singles championship, then the pair swept the doubles. Five newcomers to the Zone Tournament also represented PAU. They were Janie Cavazos, Esther Fernandez, Elva Santos, Belen Santos and Rosie Rodri- guez. a. Norma Barron practiced diligently for better results in her serves. b. Waiting for a forehand return, Sylvia Barron got into position. c. The Badminton team which represented Pan Am at the tournaments were: Front Row: Norma Barron. Sylvia Barron. Second Row: Elva Santos. Janie Cavaszos. Coach Margie Ivy Darling.
