Law School Foundation The charter of The University of Texas Law School Foundation describes the mission of the Foundation as follows: to further legal ed-cation, legal research, financial assistance to deserving students and the progress of the law; to solicit donations for particular objectives to accomplish such purpose. The Law School Foundation was established in 1952 as an educational foundation to support The University of Texas School of Law. The Board of Trustees has grown from seven originally to 23 today, and still includes among its members some of the most prominent attorneys in Texas and in the nation. The Foundation raises most of the endowments and privately-sponsored funds which support the Law School. The UT School of Law currently lists its endowments at more than $85 million, ranking as one of the largest law school endowments in America. The University of Texas Law Alumni Association, founded in 1939, also operates under the non-profit status of the Law School Foundation. The Princeton Review recently stated that The University of Texas School of Law has the best teaching faculty in the nation. The UT Law School's goal is to be the best public law school in America. As state funding continues to decline for all public educational institutions, the role of the Law School Foundation will assume even greater significance. Private philanthropy will be a critical factor in maintaining the Law School’s remarkable growth in prestige and assets. The future will bring increasing social and demographic changes, and will require the skills of America's best and brightest legal minds to meet major challenges. The Law School Foundation and the Law Alumni Association will continue to provide the maximum possible support and assistance to the School of Law through the leadership and the generosity of its alumni and friends.
