Spring Fling This year's Spring Fling was a semi-formal casino party held on Feb. 25 at the Metropolitan Club. The event included the Jesse Dean Oliver Student Auction. Students had a chance to bid on a multitude of prizes donated by their favorite professors. Items included gifts donated by law firms from around the state and dinners cooked and served by professors. The party began at 9:00 p.m. on the 13th floor of One American Center, overlooking downtown Austin. Music was provided by a local disc jockey. There was complimentary wine and beer as well as a late night breakfast buffet. 8 — Spring Fling

26TH ANNUAL W. PAGE KEETON LAW WEEK In 1953, the University of Texas School of Law first observed Law Day, a day to “create a deeper understanding and respect for the legal profession as a whole. What was once a day to remember has now become a memorable week and one of the most symbolic and enduring traditions at the Law School. The Student Bar Association expanded Law Day to Law Week in 1969 and dedicated it to Dean W. Page Keeton. Always active on the teaching staff, Page Keeton applied the same motto to which he adhered as a teacher to his services as Dean: Enter Without Knocking.” Still a member of the Law School faculty today, Dean Keeton's open door policy persists. Whether assisting students in understanding the law's intricacies or simply planning witty Socratic dialogue, Page Keeton continues to be a delight and inspiration to all who would endeavor to meet the challenges of the law. Law Week began on Friday, Feb. 25 with a blood drive taking place in the Tom Clark Lounge. The annual Spring Fling, which was a semi-formal casino party, and the Jesse Dean Oliver Student Auction followed later in the evening on the 13th floor of One American Center. Students had a chance to bid on a multitude of prizes donated by their favorite professors. The rest of Law Week began on Monday with a Doughnut Eating Contest. On Tuesday was the all day Film Festival held in the Tom Clark Lounge. The festivities on Wednesday included Dean Keeton's Bar-B-Que and Race Ipsa Loquitor. Wednesday also saw the first of four performances by Assault and Flattery. This year's theme was “The Best Little Law Firm in Texas. Law Week continued on Thursday with keynote speaker, William Sessions, former Director of Federal Bureau of In- vestigation from 1987-1993. A rece tion followed in the Sheffield Room the Law School.
