BOARD OF ADVOCATES The Board of Advocates is an organization committed to developing trial and appellate advocacy skills in UT law students. The BOA runs seven interscholastic tournaments, and sponsors eight ir.terscholastic teams each year, providing valuable opportunities for litigation training during law school. The BOA ran three interscholastic competitions in the Fall. Bob Bragalone and Skip Marter won the Fall Novice Mock Trial Competition, with Bragalone named the best novice advocate. The Vial, Hamilton, Koch and Knox F.ndowed Senior Mock Trial Competition pitted the school’s top trial advocates against each other. Jon Givens and Mikal Watts won the championship round, with Watts being named the best advocate. A1 Spencer and Barry Hardin won the Fall Senior Moot Court Competition, with Hardin winning best advocate honors. Mike Barrera and David Guillory won the Spring Client Counseling Competition, the first of four competitions in the Spring. Guillory continued his success in the Spring Invitational Solo Mock Trial Competition, reaching the final round. The exclusive competition was held in January for the first time this year. The Novice Mock Trial Competition concluded in mid-March, and the Susman, Godfrey and McGowan F.ndowed Moot Court Competition in April had twelve teams competing against each other in a singleelimination format.
