Bernard J. Ward Professorship The dedication in the 1983 edition of the Peregrinus states that the late Bernie Ward was “one of the finest and most effective law professors that students ever had at Texas.” That feeling materialized this year into a monumental effort by over 100 law students, former students, faculty members, administrators, and community leaders. Together, they raised the funds from hundreds of contributors to establish the Bernard J. Ward Centennial Professorship in I,aw. A convocation was held honoring the professorship on October 25, 1983, in which Mrs. Elaine Ward was presented with a plaque signifying the honor. Professor Charles Alan Wright, the Honorable Thomas Gee, and Susan G. Conway provided glimpses intoWard’s life.'
