PROSTHODONTICS The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat are rarely experi- enced elsewhere in dental school as often as in Prosthetics. Pitfalls such as casting failures and warping acrylic resin are too numerous and reams of cryptic criteria nearly insurmountable. Nevertheless, most of the instructors as well as the students survived this year's carnage, and agreed that it was both a worthwhile learning experi- ence and true adventure. Not content with slashing for cash, the department requires students to master both the theory and practice or restoring and maintaining the supporting structures of the teeth in optimum health. ln addition the Periodontics curriculum allows students to perform more surgical procedures than nearly any other dental school in the coun- try.
