fQfQ,i 'ICAMp l UTPTA, P P m,.A . . , , ss, .X ff, . .' Most of us entered dental school in August with feelings of accomplishment and apprehension. We were glad to be here but we really did not know what to expect. We probably spent more time studying this year than we had ever spent in the past. Credit should be given to Mickey Macaluso for helping most of us to main- tain at least some degree of sanity. His organization of the Wurst- fest trip, the softball league, and the coast trip were a welcome relief to the monotony of studying for a large part of the class. School got off to a quick start with Gross lab on the first day. The following days brought courses such as Micro-Anatomy, Biochemis- try, Dental Anatomy, and such killers as Dental History and Preven- tive Dentistry. The second semester brought Head and Neck Anat- omy, Neuroscience, Physiology and everybody's favorite, Pathol- ogy, with Dr. Bickley. Everyone is looking forward to next year when, hopefully, we will get some material that can be put to prac- tical use later on.

The first dental hygiene class of the Uni- versity of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio experienced many up-and- downs as do all first classes. However, the maior consensus at the end of the first year was that the instructors had done a great job of initiating a superior program of dental hygiene. The class was especially grateful to Mrs. Clara Hall, the program coordinator, and her staff for their tireless efforts in instituting and improving the pro- gram. , .,., 4 H ,,,,,s ,.,,s it 6 2 . 3 .if t t t i i etl 1, . .
