TRIPLICATE It was a fairly simple matter of Adds and Drops at the Erwin Center, primarily because It happened every semester: I registered for 18 hours, hoped for 12, got nine, dropped three and added six. I scrambled for classes along with 18,000 other people a process which took me a couple of hours. Gathering all of my add forms, drop forms, my trusty map of the Erwin Center concourse and a chewed pen- cil, I trekked over to the final check- out table. The guy absentmlndedly motioned me Into the main auditorium. I blend- ed into the seats on my left, nine rows of 45 people, each just waiting. I counted ' em, sure. What else was I gonna do while I waited there with them? Alast I was united with my revised schedule. The fruits of four years ' labor and my last 13 hours! Graduation, sure, ... after a three-hour session In summer school, the counselor told me a few days later. Another three hours! Aaugh! A quick eeny-meeny-mlny-mo got me my last three hours. I was re- lieved to find departmental adds less paper-burdened than centralized. So you do want to take this pass fall? the lady behind the counter asked me. No problem. I thought to myself, Boy, people will think of any excuse to throw a party. If there isn ' t an occasion, they ' ll make one up. No matter what weekend I looked on my calendar, there was always something going on at the University. Starting in the fall, there were bashes to kick off the year, Friday Gras at the Union or first-football- game-of-the-season parties. October boasted Halloween and of course, OU weekend up In Dallas that resulted In a 200-mile parade of cars heading north on Interstate 35. Shortly after this festive month came all the holiday parties that everyone had to juggle with their schedule of finals. Spring semester was no better, because It started off with Super Bowl parties which led Into Valen- tine ' s Day parties, and before you knew It, It was St. Patrick ' s Day. The semester progressed with the Sesqulcentennial festivities spread out from March 2 through San Jacin- to Day in April, not to mention all the Round-Up hoopla. By the time summer rolled around, I was ready to go home and rest! And to think my mother wondered why I wasn ' t on the honor roll.
