FOREWORD On a lonely campus path at dusk a student walks beneath the budding leaves of spring. The Tower tolls its six strokes for evening time, and shadows are draw- ing near with occasional lights dotting the dorms across the way. That student is you. Thoughts of the day just finished turn to memories of the years you have spent here. Why you came and why you are leaving are wrapped in some mystery of education, and for perhaps the first time in your college life you stop and think. The melancholy of the moment on the deserted campus around you is broken only by the familiar, oft-unnoticed sounds of the University ' s forty acres and the community around it the dimming sound of traffic from the Drag, the hushed beat of an orchestra tuning for a dance in the Union, all so omnipresent. Through your mind race memories of a year, two years, four ... a time measured by friends, classes, coffee breaks, dates, Round-Up, finals and maybe a few tears a thousand things. These memories are like falling stars, with you forever but seen for such a short time. In this sixty-sixth volume of the Cactus we have tried to catch a few and hold them for you. BUD TOOLE
