STUDENT ASSEMBLY The Student Assembly is the legislative branch of the Student ' s Association. Committees are formed to do research in the many phases of student activities. Among the many active committees appointed this year are the International Council, the Grievance Committee, and the Forum Speakers Committee. STUDENT ASSOCIATION LLOYD HAND President STERLING STEVES V ice-President JANE CARLISLE Secretary The Student Association provides the medium of expression for the opinions of the student body. The presi- dent serves as the presiding officer of the Student Assembly and the chairman of the Board of Directors of Texas Student Publications. In case of emergency or resignation, the president is succeeded by the vice-president. The vice- president is chairman of all financial and appropriation committees of the Association and chairman of the Social Calendar committee. The compiling of the yearbook of the Association and other secretarial duties are performed by the secretary. This year Sterling Steves was appointed vice-president after David Raincy ' s resignation. The Student Cabinet, a new committee, has been formed to advise and discuss problems with Lloyd Hand. STUDENT COURT HARRY WEBB. CHIEF JUSTICE ROLLIE KOPPEL, BABS HAWORTH. JODY EDMONDSON. MORGAN COPELAND. The Student Court guarantees the student body that the Constitution will be adhered to by the elected representatives. The Court interprets the Constitution, decides disputed elections, and can compel student officials to carry out the duties of their offices. The Election Commission is appointed by the Chief Justice. The main action of the Student Court this year was disciplinary action upon the violators of the blanket tax rules. The Attorney General, appointed by the President of the Students ' Association, serves as prose- cuting attorney representing the Student ' s Association in the Student Court, approves validation of petitions for initiative or referendum, is liaison between the Student Grievance Committee and the President ' s Cabinet, and is legal advisor to the President.
