VOYLES, Austin Associate Justice James P. Hart of the Supreme Court of Texas became the first Chancellor of the University November 15, 1950. As Chancellor he is the top administrative officer for the University and all its branches. Justice Hart has served on the Supreme Court since 1947. He is an honor graduate of the University, an honor graduate of Harvard Uni- versity Law School. He has engaged in private practice of law, is a former Travis County district attorney, former special district judge and former Texas assistant attorney general. His appointment has returned him officially to a campus where as an undergraduate he majored in history, government and economics, won election to Phi Beta Kappa, was graduated with the highest grades in the Class of 1925, engaged in debate, and plaved on the varsity football squad. DEAN OF WOMEN DOROTHY GEBAUER Dean of Women Miss Gebaucr, a true Southern lady born in Kentucky, attended Columbia and Oxford Universities. She was assistant dean of women here at the University for fifteen years until February, 1938, when she was made dean. JESSE EARL ANDERSON Assistant Dean of Women Miss Anderson has been with the Dean ' s office for three years. Her duties include working with the Co-Ed Assembly, House Chairmen of Women ' s Residences, Cap and Gown, Wica, and the Orientation Council. PEARL B. WALKER Assistant Dean of Women In September of 1950, Mrs. Walker accepted a position with the University as Assistant Dean of Women replacing Ann Caswell Allison. Other than her regular services as receptionist in the Dean ' s office, she is registrar of the Social Calendar Committee. MARGARET PECK Assistant Dean of Women Before becoming Assistant Dean of Women in 1943, Miss Peck was the Social Director of Women ' s Dormitories. She has been the sponsor of Panhellenic Council from the Student Life Staff since 1944. Miss Peck also assists with women ' s housing. PAGE 16 I
