Situated on the banks of the Hillsbor- ough River, the University of Tampa has long been a haven for scholars continuing their education. The 1976-77 school year has not been different in that respect. Students come from all over the United States and gather under the palm trees. They attend classes in a building where presidents and generals used to spend the night. In the puddles that gather on the brick streets following an afternoon rain one can see the reflection of majestic minarets which have become a landmark of the school. Even though these traditional parts of the university have remained, this has been a year of change. Three new housing units were added this year. Old sections of the fairgrounds adja- cent to the school were renovated and put into use as c lassrooms or studios. The field in the center of the fairgrounds was made into a soc- cer and baseball field. The athletic office found a home on the second floor of the Uni- versity Union. There were alot of new faces on campus this year among the students and faculty. Enrollment was at an all time high. There were many new full time faculty members in all departments. In addition to these new people, the university got its first woman vice presi- dent, Marisol Johns. Many new social events and counseling programs were scheduled this past year in hopes of reaching more students' interests. The community around UT exhibited many new changes this year too. In addition to the numerous athletic teams in the Bay Area, there is now a pro football team, the Tampa Bay Bucs. This football team helped to fill the void created by the loss of UT's football team two years ago. The Tampa area was also painted with the white lines of the new expressways and bridges across the Hillsbor- ough. Right across the river, downtown, new buildings sprang up. The faces of people, both old and new, are the most important part of UT. They are the breath of life that make this place to learn and grow. The changes here are reflected in those faces. The Moroccan hopes to give a glimpse into the uniqueness of those faces, traditions and new ideas which have been a part of the 1976-77 year here at the University of Tampa. 3
