Of. and Mm. Dclo at home. New President has Background in Science Assuming office July 1, 1958, Dr. David M. Dclo became the fifth president of the University of Tampa. Educator, author, and geologist, Dr. Dclo came to Tam- pa from Wagner College, New York, where he had been Presi- dent since 1952. As Chief of the Scientific Man- power Branch of the Army, he instituted the first formal reserve program for scientists and engi- neers, so effective that it was soon extended to other branches of the Armed Forces. Completing his undergraduate work at Miami (Ohio) Universi- ty, 1926, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his M.A. in 1928 from the Univer- sity of Kansas; his doctorate in 1935 from Harvard University. He is the co-author of Years of this Land” (1943) and Scien- tists in Uniform” (1918). He is a fellow of the Geologi- cal Society of America, and a member of Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Xi, the Harvard Club of New York, the University Club of Tampa, and Kiwanis.
