Dr. Nance returns from California bringing with him Mr. Daniel V. McEachern of Seattle, Washington, a long-time friend of the University, to whom Dr. Nance presented the University Achievement Medal. D 53fl ms f c-a Farewell Message From President Nance To you young ladies and gentlemen who received your degrees in the January ciass, and to the graduates who will receive their degrees at the June and August Commencement ceremonies of 1953, go my heartiest congratulations and my prayers for your personal happiness and professional success. The Trustees, faculty, staff and administration will follow your careers with sincere interest. All of us are grateful and pleased that you have had your college training here and we hope your experiences at this institution have been such that you will always be grateful for, and proud of, your degree from the University of Tampa. A college education not only increases our capacity for the under- standing and enjoyment of life but it also carries with it obligations and responsibilities in leadership in promoting, building and safeguarding the welfare, prosperity and progress of our country and its educational, spiritual and industrial institutions. Whenever and wherever you un- selfishly serve others you will be enhancing the fame and honoring the name of your Alma Mater. Our interest in your welfare does not end with your graduation. Whenever we can help you in any manner please feel free to command us. Sustain your interest in your Alma Mater and keep your lines of communication with it in good repair. Come back often to renew your inspiration—and to see your old friends. God bless you, Dr. Ellwood C. Nance =
