LOOKING BACK- AT JOURNEY'S END . . . Yeor One sow the closs of 39 go to town a lo pojomo to establish o trodition now followed by oil freshmen. The first freshmen footboll teom led by Dick Spoto, Al Yorkunos, Bcynon, Mondulo, Freedy, ond Dmytryk, went into action against the frosh of other colleges in this year. Two organizations laid their stepping stones on the University campus during this freshmen year. The 313 Masquers began their dromotic progress while Rho Nu Delta became the third social fraternity to orgonizc. Year One olso produced the first Moroccon with AI Yorkunos, T. L. Ferris, and Dick Spoto helping initiate this onnuol. ♦ Year Two added two new social organizations which hove become quite active in compos offairs. The Alpha Gomma sorority with Evongelina LaFuente os president become the third sisterhood of the college. Tau Omega fraternity, the youngest frot in the school, wos also founded in this some year. In June the inauguration of the University's new president. Dr. John H. Sherman, provided the first step toward a greater University of Tempo. In the foil severol new foculty members put in their appeoronce. The Alpha Psi Omego, composed of outstanding members of the 3 1 3 Mosquers, become the first notional honorory chapter to be installed in this in- stitution. ♦ The completion and dedication of Phillips Field, the Sporton's othletic center, was one of the outstanding events of Year Three. The formotion of the Quill club, literary organization sponsored by Dr. Hinckley; the Spanish club; ond the Inter- national Relations club, were other activities which added perstige to the growing college. The severol recitals of the Glee club, formed during this time under the direction of Walter Bethel, were o definite contribution to the culturol progress which wos beginning to take place. The Junior-Senior bonquet of Year Three carried the Howaiian theme cleverly collaborating with the entertoinment of the evening. ♦ Time soon rolled around with Yeor Four. The chorus under the direction of Professor Wiltse led the student body in its first Christmos Corol service. Three new organ- izations, the Moth, Home Ec, and Art clubs, were added to the long list of student activities. In this same yeor the Quill club, the Dramatic club, and the Physical Education ond Music deportments joined in presenting an original operetto, Costles in Spoin, which become the tolk of the town for months after the performance. Lote in April of Yeor Four the first Front Porch Frolics sponsored by the Music deportment established itself os o novelty worthy to be rcpcotcd yearly . . . the work and pleasures of four years comes to a rapid close in three short days . . . Bac- calaureate Sermon . . . Closs Doy . . . Commencement . . .
