MARDI GRAS The University of St. Thomas again captured the effervescent spirit of old New Or- leans when they presented their 1958 edition of their annual Mardi Gras. Thousands of Houstonians were treated to the beauty of our Honorary Hollywood Queen, Myrna Fahey. Then the Vibrant, commanding tenor voice of Joe Feeney, our Hollywood King and singer with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra, animated the Coliseum air with its clean, lucid power. The crowd responded enthusiastically to the beautiful Butterfly Ballet as performed by the princesses of the Royal Court and our lovely student Queen, Miss Bridget Grover. This theme was followed up by a clever, scintillating Ant Cha Cha which was exe- cuted by the students of the University for the entertainment of the Royal Conrt. An added treat was the appearance of the famous singing grOup, The Four Aces, who pleased the crowd with their inimitable style. After the Grand March of the ROyal Court, the crowd danced to the music of Johnny Long and his orchestra. The dance numbers were choreographed by Jan Boyd and the show was produced by Mr. Jimmy Jeter. The stage was designed and built by Fr. Patrick Braden, C.S.B., and the entire production of the Mardi Gras was in the capable hands of Fr. Francis Monaghan.
