Spam: Don Carlton Features: Mary Cooney Wherever students gather there are opinions expressed and when opinions are expressed there must be some organ to promulgate them. Here at the University of St. Thomas the campus newspaper, the Vision, assumes this most important duty. In order to encourage the student body to take more interest in the Vision and its work the editorial staff has attempted to place in each issue articles of interest for every student. This policy seems to have pleased the majority of students at St. Thomas, for this past year has marked an increase not only in the number of articles but in the variety of articles Which have been published in the Vision. In this way the publication has not only proved of more interest to the students but has given a better picture of campus life here at St. Thomas to people Who may have little contact with our University. The two primary purposes of a campus newspaper are U to be of service to the student body and 2y to be of service to those interested in our University. Thus through this greater spirit of co-operation both of these ends have been fulfllled' WWMH: John Crispin. Sally Richmond Tommy Jung.

We, the Summa staff of 1958, after many trials and much effort, would like to present this, the eighth edition of the Ft. Summa, to the student body of St. Thom- as. We know that you, the students, have looked forward to the Views that it pre- sents of student life and to the memories that it holds. We only hope that each of you will realize the purpose of this book Bertini; Faculty Advzsm. to portray and emphasize the intellectual, social and spiritual growth Which the uni- versity instills in her students. This yearbook has only been possible through the efforts of our staff and with the help of our fac- ulty and student body. Special thanks and our deepest gratitude must go to Rev. J. L. Meyers, C.S.B., our advisor, for his able assistance and enduring patience. The Summa staff regrets the loss of Father Meyers next year but Wishes him the best in his next venture. We must also express our appreciation to the Taylor Publishing Co., Bishop Photographers, and Stiles Photographers for their professional help and excellent work. Since financial difficulties never cease, we are deeply indebted to our loyal patrons and advertisers Whose generous support helped to make this book a reality. Again the Editors wish to thank each member of the staff and especially Lee Butler and all those who so generously gave of their time and ability to complete this book.
