Sometimes we feel that our selfhood is being encroached upon by toth- ersj, as a candle might feel that its self is being denied when a fluorescent light is turned on . . . Most of us are not candles in the wind, alone against the darkness, we are burning in the com- pany of greater lights. You are the light of the world, too, but no one no- tices. It's all right. It's better to light your candle than to curse the light . .. Recognize the distinctive nature of your own special light. God has made you unique, and the time will come, soon enough, when the master of the house will set you on his table to burn alone in the festive darkness. In the meantime, relax and shine. Participate in the general glory of light, rejoice in amazement at the fusion of lights, and be conscious always that you have been made unique. Q
