'A' ji- WE SWIM IN THE SUMMER ln addition to the inter-school competitive sports program, intramural games hold a prominent place in the physical education set-up. During the Winter months, boxing matches are held tor the men, and basketball teams are organized by members ot each of the sororities and by students from each ot the girls' dormitories. The college owns an excellent 9-hole golf course and provides several hard-surfaced tennis courts. The annual tennis and golf tournaments appeal to both men and women, and the two sports are en- joyed the year round. WE PLAY TENNIS ALL YEAR GUARDIANS OF THE POOL v V ' 4.

Football season is a time of keen enjoyment and a period during which school spirit is crystal- ized. M. S. C. always has a good football team which gains many honors for the college, and yet maintains the ideals of good sportsmanship. Not only the home games but all games are followed with keen interest by students, parents, alumni, faculty and townspeople. Many victories are added each year to the credit of the Southerners. ln December, the same spirit of loyalty carries over from the football field to the basketball court in the gym. The baseball team moves into the spotlight when the season opens shortly after the beginning of the Spring quarter. 'EQ rigs X n 1-J lt ,fc rxff l K ' 'VNX ,ff-hu J K K 'ENN l f' V' ll 'X ., . -ix l. The formal dance after the Christmas ban- quet is the last get-together before Christmas vacation. ln February the Student Council presents the campus favorites at a formal dance in the gym, and a Mardi Gras ball is sponsored by Zeta Sig.
