The Work of the Christian Federation is done largely through a group of elected officers, representatives of the various denominations, and the following committees: Ves- STUDENT CHRISTIAN FEDERATION pers, Music, Publicity. Charm School, Recreation, Courtesy, Junior-Senior Forum. Deputations, Off Campus Club for Girls, Ministerial League. R. G. LOWERY Womens State Champions-1940 The Debate Club during the year has sent teams to compete in the Millsaps Invitational Tournament, the Mid-South Tournament at Arka- delphia, Arkansas, and Louisiana-Texas Tournament at Natchitoches, Lou- isiana. The club was host for the tournament of Mississippi Intercollegiate Forensic Association in Hattiesburg. Representatives reach final or semi-final rounds except at Louisiana- Texas Tournament. The varsity womens teams consisting of Evelyn Gandy, Hazeline Wood, Dulcie Davidge, and Martha Houston, won first place in the Mississippi Forensic Tournament with seven wins and one loss-the best record attained by any college team in the tournament. R. L. Bobby Bullard was the winner in the Extemporaneous Speaking contest of the same tournament, 19-10. Mary White took first place in the state Women's oratory, 1939. and second place in 1940.
