In BostDn, they rccnaclcd the tamous tea parly. In Concord and Lexington they tbught the battles a second time. In Philiadelphia they moved the Lib- erty Bell to a place where more people could see it. Irom Washington eanie official medallions, postage stamps and other government tributes. People took advantage of the year to take that one big trip to see the historical sights of the founding of the country. But at use there were no big celebrations, no parades, no massive Hag wavings in 1976. Only occasional, lleeting thoughts of our bicentennial, which were prompted usually by sorority rush parties, Madison Avenue or brief references made in history classes. Some say the scars of Watergate and Vietnam were responsible for having put a damper on Uncle Sam ' s 200th Birthday. Others justified the lack of enthusiasm by pointing out that Cali- fornia is far away from the birth-place of our country. But whatever the rea- son, most people agreed that the bicen- tennial was not a major part of a USC student ' s life in 1976.
