1956-1986: A Celebration of 30 Years Happy Birthday USF! On October 9. 1986, USF tumed thirty. It was a day of celebration for the entire University. Buttons, balloons, music, speeches and of course. a cake; were all part of the birthday party President John Lott Brown; Student Government President Dave Matthes: James Ray, USPS first faculty member; Elliot Hardaway, USF's first librarian and Robert Westerfeldt, USPS first student to serve on the Florida Board of Regents were all honored speakers for the occasion. Other birthday activities during the week included the Founders' Day Reception for alumni and Foundation members. a reception for USF'S administration and Student Government members and a concert which featured Herbie Mann and the Florida Orchestra. 12 301h Anniversary Anniversary Party goers enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of cake. pepsi and fun
