DEDICATION In full appreciation of the part that any alumni body can pla in the development of a finer uni- versity, and in complete realization of what the generous friendship of our own graduates has meant to this particular University, the Coyote Staff and the student bods of the University of South Dakota dedicate this book. These last grim years have not been easy for the University of South Dakota. As our state has bowed under the blows of crop failures, unem- ployment, and depression, so has our University faced curtailed resources, discouraged taxpayers, and a sympathetic but improvident constituency. And just as our state, firm in persistency and cour- age, has fought through to the time when hopes and prospects are brighter an d cheerier, so has our University readied a time when it can breathe a sigh of relief, secure in the confidence that every- thing will be all right. No, they haven ' t been easy, these years. But to- gether. University and state, we have reached the place where we can stand and, looking back, be not ashamed. We have struggled, but our prin- ciples have been above any compromise. And so our dedication this year is an appreciation, not a challenge, a prayer of thanksgiving to those loyal friends of our own alumni whose encouragement has been our greatest pride. -
