Montgomery Street . . . Ft is the Wall Street of the West . . . Someone told me that this was once the waterfront and that the property between it and the bay was sold as underwater lots. Old hulks were anchored in the shallow water and wharves and cross-wharves built about them. These wharves marked out the streets of today . . .
