GRANVILLE MARTIN Cookie had the task this season of keeping the statistics. He did a great iob in this department and was instrumental in the team's suc- cess. He should make some school an excellent coach next year be- cause of his ability and personality. JIM SHAW Jim capably filled the lab of manager and scorekeeper. He always had things in good order and was constantly on the iob. He deserves much credit for keeping things going so smoothly, particularly on the trips. JIM BURNETTE Jim was our trainer and spent many hours keeping the boys in top physical condition. His efforts were certainly appreciated by all team members. Herman S. Bush has iust completed his second successful year as coach of the Rio Grande Reclmen. Mr. Bush is a well-liked personality on campus, and is to be con- gratulated for the fine work he has done. CARL LARGE Carl got off to a slow start having come to Rio after four years in the service. His determination and desire to play brought him through, however, and by the middle of the season, he was a regu- lar guard. Carl ended the season with a ten point average, but is best remembered for his final shot as the buzzer sounded that broke up the game at Huntington, Indiana. He should have some great years in the seasons to come at Rio. DON LEWIS Don was hampered this season by bad ankles. As a result, he didnt get in too much basketball early in the year. This lad played some great ball on a good high school team, however, and we can count on his coming through in another season. DICK MARTIN Dick was a clutch ball player that could come through when the chips were down. One of his best games this season was against Denison, where he came through with a couple of much needed baskets, then helped to freeze the ball for the remainder of the game. JOE McKAY Joe showed tremendous improvement over his freshman year, and should really be ready to come through the next two years. A good offensive man, and a tough rebounder, Joe is always a threat to the opponents. DICK MYERS Dick had a great season with a sixteen point average. He possesses a great iump shot and loves to fast break. Dick has a wonderful at- titude for basketball, so he should be even better when another sea- son rolls around. HENRY PARKER This young man looms as a great college prospect. He has tremen- dous speed and the ability to iump, and loves to mix it up under the basket. Henry started several games as a freshman, and came through with a nine-point average and was the third leding rebound- er. Should come through as regular pivot man next season. DON SHAW Don had tough luck this year after starting off to a great season. In the first twelve games, he had a twelve point average and was getting recognition as a gread middle man on the fast break. He them received a knee iniury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year. Teammates certainly regretted not having Don in uniform, for he is a fine gentleman in addition to being a great team man.
