BASKETBALL DICK BRUCKMAN Bink could always be counted on for a good performance. He isn't very large for a college forward, but can hold his own against larger men because of his knowledge of the game. We remember Bink best this season for his great play against tall Lawrence Tech. DON COFER Don developed a great deal his first year and looms as a bright prospect for future years. He has size, speed, and ability, so with this season's experience under his belt, he should be ready to go. CAPTAIN, MARVIN CURRY Chief had a great year as a Redman, being chosen as Honorable Mention All-Ohio in a poll conducted at the season's end. He was our leading scorer with an eighteen point average, the leading re- bounder with a total of 364, the most accurate foul shooter by hit- ting seventy-five percent of his attempts, and led the NAIA in field goal accuracy by hitting sixty three percent of his shots from the field. In addition to this, he was one of our best defensive men, gen- erally getting the toughest assignment. 1 JERRY DAVIDSON Jerry always kept the team rolling when he entered the game. He really puts hustle and drive into a team, because he excels in these departments himself. Jerry is one of the better shots on the team, acquired through long hours of practice. JACK DUNKER Jack always loomed as a threat to opponents because of his tre- mendous speed. He is a good ball hawk, shoots well on the run, and really loves to fast break. Dunk was one of our leading scorers with a twelve point average, but probably his most value to the team was as a playmaker. JACK GOSSETT Jack was the only squad member who has earned four letters. He was fairly small for a college pivot man, but generally made it tough for his opponent by pulling him out in the floor where Jack could really burn the nets. He ended the season with a ten point average, but is best remembered for his thirty six point outburst against Transylvania, an individual high for a Redman this season. Jack has the distinction of playing on Rio Grande teams that have won ninety two games while losing only twenty five. No other play- er in the history of the school has such a fine four year record. PAUL KEGLEY Paul played some excellent ball this season as a freshman, and should have a bright future at Rio Grande. He is a top notch defen- sive man and has an excellent iump shot. With the experience Paul gained this year, he should really be rolling by another season.

CARL LARGE Carl got off to a slow start having come to Rio after four years in the service. His determination and desire to play brought him through, however, and by the middle of the season, he was a regu- lar guard. Carl ended the season with a ten point average, but is best remembered for his final shot as the buzzer sounded that broke up the game at Huntington, Indiana. He should have some great years in the seasons to come at Rio. DON LEWIS Don was hampered this season by bad ankles. As a result, he didnt get in too much basketball early in the year. This lad played some great ball on a good high school team, however, and we can count on his coming through in another season. DICK MARTIN Dick was a clutch ball player that could come through when the chips were down. One of his best games this season was against Denison, where he came through with a couple of much needed baskets, then helped to freeze the ball for the remainder of the game. JOE McKAY Joe showed tremendous improvement over his freshman year, and should really be ready to come through the next two years. A good offensive man, and a tough rebounder, Joe is always a threat to the opponents. DICK MYERS Dick had a great season with a sixteen point average. He possesses a great iump shot and loves to fast break. Dick has a wonderful at- titude for basketball, so he should be even better when another sea- son rolls around. HENRY PARKER This young man looms as a great college prospect. He has tremen- dous speed and the ability to iump, and loves to mix it up under the basket. Henry started several games as a freshman, and came through with a nine-point average and was the third leding rebound- er. Should come through as regular pivot man next season. DON SHAW Don had tough luck this year after starting off to a great season. In the first twelve games, he had a twelve point average and was getting recognition as a gread middle man on the fast break. He them received a knee iniury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year. Teammates certainly regretted not having Don in uniform, for he is a fine gentleman in addition to being a great team man.
