FEATURES We have departed from tradition this year in the selection of the WEB BEAUTY. In keeping with the theme of school and city, the contest was judged by three prominent local figures-Miss Betty Blan- ton, fashion consultant of Thalhimer's Department Store, Mr. Foster Orpin, photographer and manager of Foster Studios, and Mr. Art Wood, cartoonist and artist of the Riclamomi News-Leader. The WEB staff decided on this plural body to more adequately rep- resent a cross section of community life. This is only one- facet of a school-community relationship of which both parties may be proud. At a small coffee hour in Keller Hall, the judges met the candi- dates, talked to them, and therefore were able to make their decisions on a basis of beauty as a complete entity-including personality, Clair, and poise. In this way, the handicap of long-distance judging by pho- tograph alone was overcome. The difficult job of choosing a winner from nine such excellent candidates was f1nally accomplished, and the judges announced their decision: Miss Page McCray is the 1955 WEB BEAUTY. Our feelings at this time are fourfold. First, we heartily congratu- late the winner and thank the runners-up, secondly, we commend the student body of Westhampton College for their nine excellent choices, thirdly, we extend our deepest and warmest thanks to Miss Blanton, and Messrs. Grpin and Wood for their fine job and extensive coopera- tion 5 and, lastly, we are gratified at the success of our unique contribution to school-campus cooperation and interest.
