Chemistry Club ganized in 1930. Its purposes The Chemistry Club was org are to further interest in chemistry and to promote more intimate relations between the students of chemistry at the University of Richmond. To become a member of the club, a student must have done good work in the depart- ment and must present a paper on a subject pertaining to a field in chemistry. This paper, either a biographical sketch of a famous chemist, a treatise on a phase of chemistry, or a dissertation on a new discovery, is presented before the club. The club encourages students of exceptional ability by awarding honor keys to those members with an average orade of ninety for two years’ work in the department. Psychology Club. The program of this club supplements the regular classwork with an opportunity for practical application of their knowledge, firsthand information of the psychopathic situations and conditions in society, and gives the students guidance to the opportunities open to them in the field of psychology. Having completed twelve hours of psychology with a “B” average, the following students were initiated into the club this spring: Louis Gasser, Cora Lynn Chaffee, Mary Frances Bethel, Lois Bradley, Joyce Eubank and Temma Tatarsky.

SAWALL, PRO- FESSOR WILLIAMS University Players An old-time vaudeville revue opened the Players’ season in October. March roared in with a full enroll- ment of veterans who brought back to the Players George Sadler, Sim Taylor, and Allan Flannagan, and a breezy bill of one-act comedies for which che Players deserted the old Playhouse for the more intimate arena theater in the ““Y”’ building. Sheridan Whitesides’ “The Man Who Came to Dinner” stormed back into the Playhouse at the end of March. “Hasty Heart’ brought an end to the season which had seen Barbara Richie, Bobby Rock, Marie Peachee, and Cornelia Reid initiated into the Players. [14] Biology Club The Biology Club, after a lapse of two years, was te- organized last year under the sponsorship of Beta Beta Bers: It is se to all who are interested in Biology, and it is hoped that membership in this club will be an in- creased incentive toward membership in Beta Beta Beta. The meetings were held once a month and at this time the club had many interesting speakers, both stu- dents and outsiders who have cece extensively in a certain field of biology. Beta Beta Beta Beta Beta Beta, a national honorary fraternity, is repre- sented on this campus by our Beta Theta chapter. The fra- ternity’s purpose is to stimulate interest in all fields of biological sciences and scientific investigation. Member- ship is reserved for majors who have maintained academic records above the University average, and who have shown special aptitude in biology. The chapter welcomed back Dr. Hagquist, Professor of Biology and a charter member. In November three mem- bers from Westhampton were formally initiated. Dr. A. B. Gathright, Jr., Acting Director of the Tumor Clinic, Medical College of Virginia, was the speaker at Convocations sponsored by Tri-Beta on March 8th. An- nouncement of six new members preceded Dr. Gathright’s address on Cancer Control. Initiation of a new field of service by Tri-Beta this year took the form of supplying a biological supply house with hydra from the lake. This opens a wide fil d for explora- tion in the future. The chapter also sponsored the Biology Club, an organization open to any student interested in this field. The University Choir The Choir has had a most successful year under the direction of Mrs. F. Flaxington Harker. The program for this year consisted of singing at Vespers and Convocation and the traditional presentation of Handel’s Messiah be- fore the Christmas holidays. The Choir met regularly once a week with extra prac- tices for special events. The membership was composed of Westhampton College women and Richmond College men. Beta Beta Beta.
